Fable 2

You guessed it, we now have another Tsuyu, figuratively speaking. It seems that Brian (Fablefreak) has earned a spot on the staff roster, which will undoubtedly mean less spam, which can only be a good thing. Congratulations Brian! I now grant you the unofficial title “Destroyer of Spam”. Good luck with it!

Spambots beware.

Lionhead have recently written a blog in reply to the recently released footage of Fable 2 and stated it was never meant to be released in its entirety.

Last night, after a long day at the Showcase Event, we found out that Kotaku had posted a video showing Fable 2. This is not a trailer and it was never intended to be released in its entirity on the internet. Kotaku has dissapointed me, yes Mike and Brian you have. Sadly enough, it did happen and the snowball effect (other sites doing what Kotaku did) was inevitable at that point. The video was intended for broadcast media to edit into filmed interviews with Peter Molyneux. It was clearly marked as such on the Microsoft PR ftp.

Let me make this clear: we decided to be honest with everyone, to show Fable 2 as it is right now, including the 5000+ bugs that are currently being fixed by the development team. The press have reacted positively to our decision to show our game warts and all. To then see this video being released with the comments from editors (like Mike) and readers ranging from downright negative to so-so, is rather dissapointing and totally out of context.

Please understand that it represents work in progress and see it for what it is: how the game looked on 7th May 2008. We promise to release a real trailer in due course. It will be interesting to compare them…

Thats right folks, the big (ish) news for our beloved game is the box art! It’s looking pretty sexy too, I must say.

The guys over at CVG have recently posted a preview of Fable 2. With the head man Peter Molynuex stating that the game is soon to be ‘content complete’.

“I probably shouldn’t say this, but on May 16 we’re going to be content complete, which means we’re going to have art and assets locked down. The world in Fable 2 is twenty times larger than the first game’s, there’s a hell of a lot more sandbox. There’s also the fact that every single building, even the dungeons, are buyable. I like giving the player a feeling of familiarity at the beginning.

Sam from Lionhead Studios has recently been talking about a planned update that is coming next week from Lionhead. Glad to see Sam is doing fine after the minor surgery with his teeth, and good to see Todd posting there too. Thanks to Todd (Albion Knight) and Joe Of Spades for posting about this on the forums also.

Right…firstly I’d like to thank everyone who wished me well, dropped me an email to tell me what to expect (or what not) and anyone else I might be forgetting. The surgery went fine, the anesthetics were pleasant and the tranquilizers against the pain even more so! I’m still in pain right now but the doctors tell me it will last for about a week.

I also came into work on Monday (yesterday, which was a bank holiday) with about 70 other people and today is just a normal working day. A lot is happening, if you are anxious to find out something new about Fable 2, I suggest you make sure you’ve got access to the internet, next week! Yes we are planning something (quite) big-ish.

Just over 2 months after i was here announcing the last milestone the Fable 2 Forums are celebrating the 6000th member milestone. Yet again we must give huge thanks to everyone on the boards, from all the registered members, editors, supporters, & modders to the GFX makers and everyone basically.
