No Bows in Fable 2

No Bows in Fable 2

A recent Blog entry by Sam at Lionhead has confirmed the fact that the regular Bow will not be in Fable 2

He has said however that there will be crossbows and they have increased the number of ranged weapons in the game. I’m thinking Cannons might be a possibility
What ranged weapon do you think there will be in Fable 2 considering why Sam said there won’t be bows?

I think we sould stick with the bows, I think it would be better with the medevil weps than the modern ones, and its more exciting.

hey i got an idea, instead of using guns for fable 2 why dont yall just make automatic crossbows like van helsings then u reload it after a certain amount of shots(i really dont want guns in fable i think itll ruin the fun.) =)

No bows?!! I loved the bows in Fable TCL!! i think there should obviously be less, but at least some real bows, not just crossbows, to be old school

it depends really. i mean they havent said exactly what kind of “guns” will be in the game. if they are 16th and 17th century era muskets and rifles then yeah i could see the reasoning behind no bows. but if they are going in the direction with the firearms that i think they are.. such as early arquebus style firearms (and from what i’ve seen in vids of the testing demo’s thats what it looks like). then i think they should still have a healthy arsenal of bow’s in the game.

I don’t know about this. Fable was an excellent game because it was pure “Ye Olde” Medieval warfare–lots of games try to mix themes or time periods and are worse for it.

Onimusha 2 tried to have guns and it was a distinctly inferior for it. The process of firing a gunpowder pistol or an old musket was just completely flat and unsatisfying.

Maybe the Fable team has come up with a way to make it exciting, but I ask you: will firing a gun ever have the pure, tangible feeling that firing a bow did–drawing back on the bowstring and holding it, building up your power for maximum damage? No, it will not.

throwing knives? spear chucking? Leather and ropes rock throwers, there are several ranged weapons that dont have to focus on more modern weaponery. People hear “No Bows” so they assume “The Worse”(Guns in an Might and Magic RPG)

The game takes place 500 years after the events in Fable, so I think maybe they’re evolving it form the medieval times to the times where guns had just been invented and dueling and large hats with feathers…

    And pet dogs.

it will be harder to use ranged weapons without bows becuase crossbows take longer to load up and the only available guns would be muzzle loaders . i bet they will be single shot cartridge guns because it would be easier for the lionhead guys to animate and make playable they will find a loophole because they are lazy …..jk i love lionhead

I think that Fable 2 will be interesting w/ guns, such as guards using guns instead of crossbows. Although bows were my favorite of all the weapons(long ranged)
