Fable - Sword In The Stone Quest<
At any point when you reach the Chapel of Avo, you can take a small road up a hill to the left that leads around the Chapel and to a sword that is concealed in stone. You will notice there are a small group of men all competing to pull the sword from the stone but are all failing pretty miserably.
Talk to one of the bystanders and he will go on to explain the history of the sword and how it came to be, mentioning that only the strongest of heroes could possibly hope to remove this mighty sword from the stone. Little does he know that you are that hero. You can attempt to pull the sword out if you wish, but if this is your first visit to the Chapel of Avo or your character just isn’t very well developed in strength then it’s unlikely that you will have any success at this point.
There are two methods of removing the sword from the stone:
- Increase your physique stats to 5, health stats to 2 and toughness stats to 3. For some bizarre reason it has to be this exact amount, even 1 point higher and you will not have any luck.
- Increase all of your strength stats to maximum.
Once you have succeeded in attaining either of the two above examples, then you will be able to do the job. Simply press your accept button while standing next to the sword and a quick cutscene will show you pulling the sword out with ease, completing the side quest and earning yourself 100 gold, 100 renown and oh yes, the Harbinger longsword.

Ok….i have everything i need to pull the sword out of the stone BUT i need to get to the sword….lol i cant find out where it is…i have already beat the game but i started a new account and i want the sword sooner in the game so i dont know how to get there…. HOW TO GET TO THE TEMPLE OF AVO??????

you have to wait until a quest card takes you there, i think it is the archeologist one. Dont bother getting enough renown to take the opional quest in the begining to get there. Once you have enough they just dissapear.

The sword in the stone isnt that good, u dont need full stats in strengh, only very high, like 1 block away from full

So I’m pretty sure that you don’t have to have those EXACT levels to get the sword. But has anyone heard a rumor about a cheat so that you can play as Maze? My sister’s friend told me that he found it but I’m not so sure I believe him.

correction, you have to *improve* your strength stats by +5, +2 and +3 (physique, health and toughness respectively) after the first time you try it no matter how much you have at the first time (unless you have 777, then you will always pull it out). Also you don’t need to bother advancing past 7 points in any area.
