Fable - Orchard Farm Escort Quest
You can initiate this optional side quest by speaking to the lone trader who is located at Lookout Point which is just outside of the Heroes Guild. Standing very close to the statue, he’ll probably be the only one with a green objective marker. Begin talking to him and he will ask if you if would mind escorting him to Orchard Farm. The thing about this quest is, it’s actually a hell of a lot more straight forward if you do it straight at the beginning of the game, as you will be able to simply escort him to his destination and that will be it.

However, if you take on this quest towards the end of the game, or after completing the main story mode, you’ll notice that the entrance to the Greatwood Forest is sealed off, meaning you will have to make a lengthier detour around Greatwood Lake and inevitably into the farm. Either way, use your ‘Follow’ command to order him to follow you, make sure you don’t run too fast and he has a tendency of lagging behind quite a lot.

The path to Orchard Farm isn’t all that dangerous; there’s a few bandits and wasps along the way amongst other things but they shouldn’t pose much of a threat to you. But you must keep an eye on the trader as you go along; if he takes any damage then he will not reward you with a bonus item when you reach the farm. Once you reach your destination, he will reward you depending on how much damage he has received throughout his trip.

Provided he reaches the farm without a scratch, or at least has only suffered a minor amount of damage, he will reward you with a gem (which is worth a few hundred gold by itself) but you will always receive 500 gold for completing the quest whether he makes it to Orchard Farm in perfect shape or hobbles along with only a fraction of health left.

Something worth noting is that if you don’t receive the gem and you fancy being cruel, you can kill the trader once you get to Orchard Farm and he will drop the gem, allowing you to pick it up and earn yourself a few evil points in the process. You can also take this side quest multiple times, although you will have to wait 3 or 4 ‘virtual’ days before the trader will appear again.
