Investigating The Mayor Quest Overview
The Mayor’s Invitation and Investigating The Mayor side quests will become available as soon as you have completed the ‘Fight In The Arena’ main story quest. As you may have already guessed, this mission is the complete opposite to the Mayor’s Invitation quest, because here you will be commissioned with exposing her dark secret as opposed to the other where you will be attempting to win her affection and marry her.
Head to the Bowerstone North prison and speak with the prisoner, who will insist that the Mayor murdered her sister, Amanda. He then goes on to ask that you speak with Amanda’s ghost to learn the details. He tells you to go and speak with her love, Rhodri, who might know how to get in touch with her spirit.
You can find Rhodri near the south of the Barrow Field, standing close to one of the demon doors. Once you locate him and talk to him he will tell you how he and Amanda would secretly rendezvous at Grey House and would alert her of his presence by shining his lantern three times at the stable.
Obviously, that’s what we need to do to coax Amanda’s spirit out, so head over to Grey House and do as Rhodri recommended. You will then see Amada’s spirit appear and open the cellar door of Grey House. Follow the path into the cellar and talk with Amanda who will then give you a letter.
Upon inspecting the letter Lady Grey will appear and depending on your current status with her you will be given multiple choice of what you can do. If you have already completed the Mayor’s Invitation side quest and are married to her, she will demand that you hand over the letter. If you do as she asks then the mission ends, the Bowerstone prisoner will be executed and her dark secret will not be exposed.
However if you are not married to the mayor then you will have the choice of either marrying her (well, you will begin halfway through the Mayor’s Invitation quest and be forced to fight Thunder for her love). But should you decide to refuse her offer and expose her, she will be sacked as Mayor and you will have the opportunity to become Bowerstone’s new mayor by speaking to the captain of the guards in Bowerstone North.
