The Hidden Sword Quest Overview
This quest is available after the ‘Prophets of the Fire Heart’ portion of the game provided you chose the “good” ending and didn’t end up with the Sword of Aeons, as this is basically the ‘pure’ alternative to that weapon.

To call this a quest would be a bit of an overstatement because there really isn’t a whole lot to it. Any who, the mission will begin with you overhearing the Guildmaster and Briar Rose talking about a weapon that is hidden somewhere and that Maze may know of it’s location.

So head over to Maze’s Quarters and examine his bookcase until you find his journal which has notes detailing his search for the legendary sword, the Avo’s Tear longsword. You will also read the instructions for calling forth the legendary sword - “One need only read the inscription on the empty grave in the Guild courtyard and think of the weapon to be judged by the Old Heroes.”

You guessed it, that’s our cue to head to the empty grave in the Heroes’ Guild courtyard and a cutscene will play when you arrive. Shortly after, you will receive one of the most powerful weapons in all of Fable: The Lost Chapters, Avo’s Tear.
